Licensing and certification

No state board oversees the licensing of food safety auditors. However, certifications are very important in this industry. To obtain the position of any food safety auditor, certifications are required. Some certifications are essential to work as a food safety auditor and they are the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required along with three years of industry experience. Applicants must also demonstrate adequate training in HAACP.
  • RFSA (Registered Food Safety Auditor) – This NEHA certifies food safety auditors to perform third-party audits. CFSSA credentials must be obtained before requesting RFSA credentials.
